The morphologica range is the work of a Sydney-based independent designer, and is inspired by the biological forms encountered in neuroscience research (as well as the silly side of science).
Each design starts its life as a sketch on paper, then is modelled digitally and cut by laser beam, before finally being assembled by hand into a truly unique piece.
Science can be surprisingly beautiful- single cells viewed under a microscope, intricate networks of cells important for learning and memory, and even the curving structure of the brain itself. An attempt has been made to capture some of this beauty in the Morphologica pieces, focusing on the shape or morphology of a variety of subjects studied in neuroscience.
